New Head Unit
#21
So what would you guys recommend for someone who has under 150 dollars to spend on a new head unit and doesn't care if it is a touch screen or not - as long as it looks nicer and performs better then the shaker.

It is going to be hard to get a decent head unit for that budget. If you are looking for a little bit better sound try getting some decent speakers. The stock speakers SUCK and are a paper cone.

Well, its not that I really mind the cheap speakers. I just want something a little more aesthetically pleasing, and some extra features would be nice too.

Tough budget you got there. I would probably look into the non-touch screen options from Pioneer, possibly Kenwood. I'm not an expert on those, so I won't chime in on them, but that seems like a better option for this budget.

I have a Pioneer DEH-2200UB single din and am pleased with it. I really wanted an ipod hookup and didn't want to spend a ton on a double din at the time.

I am confused about something. I am considering a 2012 V6 Premi with the Shaker 500, and most definitely want to replace the head unit with a Pioneer DVD unit. But as I browse Crutchfield, they are suggesting a $75 adaptor for the steering controls (fine) and a $99 harness adaptor for synch (fine, I presume. yes?). But they also want to sell a $400 (on sale for $200) bezel adaptor, that they say is required. Is this the case? I dont seem to find such a piece on any of the pictures of replacement head units.
Thoughts? thanks in advance!

I think the deal with the newer interiors is that instead of just a trim kit for the radio, you have to get an entire center console remodeling trim kit, which is a bit expensive.
There are a few options last I saw, and one that was supposed to be coming out (probably released now) looked much better than the others (relocated the DVD unit correctly). This is probably going to be the main cost associated with the replacement, other than the head unit, of course.
