Default Spring on front bake pad broke off

Was putting my new pads on and the bottom of the inside pad the spring (or clip) broke and I could not get it to stay back on. So far I see no issue with it but could this be an issue down the road? I do not want to have to redo that whole side for a dam spring!

I would think it will let your pad rub constantly against the rotor. I broke a clip on mine and had to use one of the old ones with a good cleaning.

I wouldn't worry too much. They are anti-rattle clips and should not have any adverse effects in overall brake performance or pad longevity.

I was worried the pad would rub against the rotor, so I did an experiment. With the tire on, I pushed on the pad as hard as I could pushing toward the rotor, the pad does not move what so ever with the piston retracted fully once the caliper is mounted. Therefore my conclusion is those clips don't retract the pad away from the rotor. So my question is, after braking and you let off the brake what or how does the pad move away from the rotor?

Those clips are just for anti-rattling purposes.
