how and where? Track would have to be one of the only ways this could happen with mine (yours is similar, even if you have smaller/taller gears)...6K in fourth <minus any bs> would put me well over 100...OP, you are fine (and encouraged 'round here') to take her out every now and then...TC off?

just realized buckeye you had a m90...disregard above please...

Highway right outside of work when I work 3rd shift on sunday morning, get her up to about 120, sometimes I don't go all the way in 4th but still it's a good once a week blast.

Other than babying her the first 500 miles or so, let her rip. I've raised the red line from the factory 6250 to 6500 RPM (after Brenspeed had raised it to 6800) on my 4.6L and still bounce off the limiter on occasion. No problem.

I drive all my new cars like gramps from the day they leave the showroom floor until I ditch'em and I have not lost a motor/tranny or clutch lol

I agree, no dumping and craziness you're good. Just run up and nicely change gears.

I run 6K - 5 times a day lol. Just through 1st and 2nd. I still have not ran in 4th @ WOT. I just get nervous. My last car; 99 GT. Ran 1st-3rd to 6K multiple times a day from 104K miles to 168K when I sold it, ran like a champ.

Same with gears. Few 20 min. heat cycles good to GO! A Ford rear end specialist told me that on my last install. It seemed to work great.

OP, I'm right where you are. Have about 200 miles and despite trying to keep it under 5k for the first 500 miles, I've ran it up to 6k 5-6 times (God I love those 3.73's). I'd only stay that high for a second, so figure it's not gonna hurt the engine. At most right now I'll run it hard to the 5k with some firm shifts (broke 'em loose goin into third at 45mph at 4.5k) here in there and car seems to be breaking in nicely. Once 500 miles comes around I'll feel better about getting the revs up there

Someone posted this from the 2012 mustang manual ...

BREAKING-IN YOUR VEHICLE
Your vehicle does not need an extensive break-in. Try not to drive continuously at the same speed for the first 1,000 miles (1,600 km) of new vehicle operation. Vary your speed frequently in order to give the moving parts a chance to break in. Drive your new vehicle at least 100 miles (160 km) before performing extended wide open throttle maneuvers and at least 1,000 miles (1,600 km) before towing a trailer or before performance/competition conditions. For more detailed information about towing a trailer, refer to Trailer towing in the Tires, Wheels and Loading chapter." Do not add friction modifier compounds or special break-in oils since these additives may prevent piston ring seating. See Engine oil in the Maintenance and Specifications chapter for more information on oil usage
My Mustang GT is still riding the rails, but when I turn the key for the first time and every time after that, I'll be following the manual's recommendations.

I'm paying over 40K for it and plan on keeping it for the rest of my life though. I'm just guessing, but the "drive it like you stole it" folks are probably not planning to keep theirs that long.
