hey guys just got my 5.0 2 weeks ago and loving it...i just ordered my pypes super system catback and cant wait for that too come in...but onto other things im looking for a set of gears, my car is a automatic and has the 3.15's in it...im looking for a little more oooompphh from this car. so i was wondering which gears too go with....3.73 or 4.10. all your thoughts would be much appreciated
i've heard that the 4.10's raise your 70mph cruise rpm's to 2500...i've also heard that your city mpg's improve a little...it's basically preference...i've heard people riding with a set of 4.10's and S/C and not having problems...i haven't heard a stang with 3.73 gears but it REALLY sounds MEAN with 4.10's...i'm going with 4.10's
I have 4:10's and I love them! 1st gear is short - I had 3:31's with a 5sp - now the car is insane...
I got a GREAT deal on my gear swap and have HAD NO problems...

I would do the 3.55s if I had an automatic. I don't like how short first gear is with the 4.10s and the freeway speed rpms. It would be a wasted gear in my opinion. And the tranny would shift two times before getting to 60mph. (If redline is 6500 I dont know don't own a 5.0) But thats just me. If I did 80% or more city driving I might go with the 3.73s. But all around, I'm thinking 3.55s are best for the auto 5.0 if you want to be able to lay anykind of power down with first gear and not get city mpg on the freeway.
