It's not the be all end all. But dealers use it to sell you used cars so you should be able to turn the tables on them every now and then by using it against them. It's not the bible, but to discount this resource altogether is a mistake. Be fortunate that we live in the internet age and there are a ton of good resources online to help you get a good deal. Not necessarily the "best" deal, but a good one that will save you $'s for performance parts.

haha, well my plan is to see if I could use that number at the ford dealership to possibly get into a 5.0.

Yeah that's pretty low if you ask me. I got mine from a Ford dealer, same year as yours and it's an automatic with basically no pretty little extra features for $24,000 just last summer. It was also at 27,000 miles. But if I was you I would tell Ford that they gave you a higher offer on trade in value.

When you go to the Ford dealer, push for a couple grand higher and don't settle for less. Right now, used car values are at an all-time high.

On the flipside, there isn't a lot of inventory on new 5.0's...at least not in Northern CA. So it may be difficult to negotiate pricing on a new car.

Unless you are driving all day long for work I would NOT buy a new car. Hang onto the low mileage GT! At least until the warranty is used up. Otherwise you'll just depreciate any new car by $10,000 the second you drive off the lot.

But remember that everything that dealer said was a lie. The quote he gave you for a high trade-in was total BS and when you bring your Mustang in for appraisal I would love to be able to bet on the outcome! It WILL be a smaller $$$ amount. I caught one con-artist salesman running a quote on KBB and he entered a higher mileage figure and then only showed me the low dollar value and kept the rest of the screen obscured.

Bring your car in if you've got time to waste. Or better - get a hidden camera and make a youtube video exposing the scammers.
