Dealer screw up. Where to go from here?
I took my Mustang in to the dealership for transmission work in mid May. 3rd and 5th gear were pretty hard to get into and 5th grinded frequently.
Anyway took them 5 weeks to "fix" my car.
I was extremely happy to have it back. 3rd and 5th were a little stiff, but I thought that might be normal. Overall the transmission felt much tighter, though, in a good way.
I drove it Saturday up to a Mustang show. It kicked out of 5th gear no less than 5 times. Its never done that before.
So what do I do now?
Can I take it to another dealership?
The customer service at the first dealer was terrible and I got into it with them multiple times during the 5 weeks they had my car. Anyway advice on my situation?

The time frame is not surprising. Spare parts are last to enter the market behind a new model. Try a new dealer and be clear that you expect throrough testing before declaring the issue resolved. Expect a loaner and document every conversation. Many states have good Lemon Laws for cronic problems, but they require that you have detailed history of the exchange with the dealer(s).

I'd shoot for another dealer and try that. Five weeks is pretty terrible, and especially to still be having problems..that's bad.
Hopefully another dealer can better serve you! Sorry to hear about the crappy situation though Tanner! I hope it'll get fixed up quickly

I would call another dealer...talk to the service manager and explain the situation...I have found that dealers are more then willing to make their competitors look bad in resolving a situation that the other guy didn’t…
