Which is the better offset 20x9 at +35 or +15 for a 2012 GT
 

What up guys. I need a little enlightenment on offsets. Which would be the better looking offset for 20x9 XXR 526 wheels on my 2012 Mustang 5.0? They offer the wheels in +15 and +35 offsets. It seems the +35 offset is the perfect fit based on most people's setups. I don't want any rubbing. I also I don't want the wheels to tuck in to far or stick out too far. So which is the best offset for our Mustangs. THANKS.

My potential setup would 20x9 with 255/40/20 on the front and 275/40/20 on the back

I also see most guys would rather run 255/40 and a 275/35 on the back. Wouldn't a 40 series tire provide better comfort?

First of all, your choice in tire size puts you about 1.5" over the stock OD on the rear and about 1" in front. To maintain a similar OD to the factory OD, you should be considering 35 series (if you can get past the lack of sidewall). But you're on the right track if you MUST go with a 20" wheel.

As far as offset, you'll be better off with the 35. the 15 will cause the rears to stick out beyond the wheel wheel for sure and possibly in front, too. The stock offset on the 05-10's is about 45 - 48. I'm sure it's close if not the same on the 11 and 12.

15 would make them stick way out past the fender..the stock offset is 40mm..so 35mm would put them pretty flush with the fenders and shouldnt stick out.

If you're going to run the same size wheel on all four corners run the same size tires on all four corners. You really screw with the tire's performance by stretching the tire on one wheel and compressing the the tire on another wheel. Run a 9" wheel on the front and 10" wheel on the back if you have to stagger the tire sizes or even bigger if you can afford it. A 315/35x20 fits on the back but you need at least a 10.5" rim for that.

The OP doesn't state if he's a V6 or V8 and what mods he has. If he's a stock 05-10 4.0L, then that 315/35/20 (or ANY 20 on a heavy wheel) will have him shaking his head in disgust as soccer mom's blow his doors off...

Nuke its a 2012 GT 5.0. I don't have any mods except for a Saleen grill. Heck I just took delivery a few weeks ago lol. Yeah, 315 is too much. Speed and MPG is my main concern not looks, which why I'm also considering the RTR wheels. But the XXR 526 is just so sick, even though they are 20s

Bumping this thread...did you ever end up getting the wheels. I'm on the fence about purchasing the same wheel but am curious how things worked out for you and which offset you went with.
