Default Best time to buy an 11 used?

So, I want to buy a 2011 GT this year. I wanted to buy used, but since the used car market has been so expensive lately, I'm kinda scared to even buy used. Might as well pay the extra grand just to get it new, it seems like these days. I'll have about 10K down for a down payment, but I was just curious...is there a certain best time I should wait to buy it at? Like Labor Day or the end of the year? I'm leaning towards end of the year, but Idk. I kinda suck when it comes to car buying, honestly. lol

I'm pretty incompetent when it comes to car buying too, but I'd wait until the 2013s roll out, and then I'd use that as leverage to push the 2011 prices down further. Make it clear that you're buying a car 2 model years old and that it's the first generation of the new engine platform, that you're buying up some of the risks that other consumers might not want. Figure out a price you want to pay and hold strong on it, act like you really don't need to upgrade but you were interested in seeing what the new mustangs could do.

Play the game

id say try and find a new 2011 still on a lot..then usually they give you deals and better interest rates.

What's your '03 worth? I'd start hunting around now with the mindset that it's a bit out of your price range but you never know when you'll strike paydirt.

lol Dealer trade it's worth didly squat since it has over 100,000 miles. I'd have to basically sell it on Craigslist. I'd be happy to get 5K out of it. Yeah I've been hunting with the idea too of searching, but it seems liek prices were a LOT better when I was searching in spring time compared to now. But the used car market is pretty dead now somehow.

They're offering 0% financing on 11's here in Virginia.

I see that you live in Woodbridge VA. I was thinking of selling my car. I have 2011 5.0 fully loaded with pretty much everything (12.5k miles on it). MSRP was 40k on it plus taxes/tags/processing. I'd sell it for 32k, 33k with 100k warranty (bumper to bumper) or 6 years. I'm trying to buy a house so I was thinking of getting rid of mine. I also have some mods, just cosmetic though (GT500 axlebacks, gt500 rear diffuser, front cs valance, tints etc.). Here are some pics. Not sure if I want to sell it since I love the car but might as well throw it out there.

I bought my '11 CS over a year ago. Sticker was 38,000 on it. I ended up getting it for 32k out the door. Deals are out there, you just need to be patient. I traded in my 07 for it so that might have helped. They gave me about 19k for my 07.

One mistake in buying the two year old car is that you never really get ahead of depreciation on the loan (unless you hammer on a low interest rate with a short term).

I think now is the time. That will put you ahead of the 2013 depreciation that will hit by this time next year. (the same one you were encouraged to bargain with) That can be a two edged sword, but buying now has you paying for 7 or 8 months before that comes. You can probably find just as deep a price cut now.
