That does have some truth. They sound good, I had two in my Stang. The main issue I found is that the car has so many parts that rattle. I hate to say it, but the interiors of our cars aren't put together very tightly. Luckily I had an extremely flexible amp and could shape the sound of my subs to get around this problem. My setup was for music quality and not output though. Type Rs are extremely accurate in a sealed box, but any decent 12 will sound great in a proper box built for it. It's the car that sounds bad; rattling all over the place...and maybe a system that was set up by someone who doesn't know how to properly set an amp's settings. Sound deadener will help a lot too.

I have a 12 inch sub in a ported box. 1 TS85 and a TE801D amp. Someone thought I had 2 15's in my trunk today.
