Thinking of removing my headers... opinions?
Well lately I have been thinking of removing my headers and just putting the stock manifolds on and maybe just a cut and clamp x pipe. Reason I am thinking of doing this is cause my inspection is up in november, and if I have trouble passing I dont want to than be stuck removing them and having to get a new dyno tune. I have an appointment for a dyno tune with JDM Sept. 15 so I figured I will just remove them the weekend before, this way they tune for the stock system with cats and I dont have a trouble passing inspection. I just figured for a DD it might be more practical. I'm also 100000000000% SHOCKED, but the sound is getting to me for every day use .
Any opinions? I heard aftermarket high flow cats arent good to use on blown cars so I figured just remove before the dyno tune this way I wouldnt need a new tune if I get trouble with passing inspection.

When it comes to headers on the 3V 4.6 with forced induction, I think this article is well worth the read. The results are not popular for some folks, but I think they are valid and worth thinking about when it comes to what headers do or do not do for us.

Actually, I'm curious to see if you have numbers WITH the LT's and what they look like IF you remove them. Regardless, the choice is yours and IMO, for the sake of knowing you can pass inspection AND to give your ears a break, it sounds like a practical plan. Of course, you can always reinstall and retune...

Wow that article proved ALOT!! I think because with LT's it drops the boost a bit, and its just compensated for with the better airflow. I should be at around 8psi but am currently at 6.25 psi due to the LT's. If I ever decide to install them again (probably never will) I atleast have my JDM email tune which is setup for them.
I am just going to remove them before my dyno tune and sell them. 05x you can have dibbs on them if you want.

Well I spoke with Jim at JDM earlier and he said it's a good idea. He said at my power levels now the long tubes aren't really making a huge difference difference in power. He said he has had a ton of people come back in because they had problems passing inspection, and thinks it would be a smart idea if I removed them.
I plan on selling the headers, x pipe, and Borla stingers and than buying the Borla atak or magna flow competition catback.

How does headers effect inspection? If you have cats and the o2 sensors are turned on I don't see how you would have a problem... well at least in NY
Maybe I better go down and see if mine will pass as I have Kooks longtubes and cats... lol
