HELP! Precision Auto Tune caught my trunk on fire! (2006 Mustang GT)
I went to Precision Auto Tune to get some Flowmaster American Thunder 817460 mufflers installed. Should have been a simple job, right? Wrong.
When I went to pick up my car one of the mufflers was obviously crooked. I asked them to fix it and they told me they would try but that these mufflers were "obviously not made for my car." I find that hard to believe as they are listed to fit my car (a 2006 Mustang GT) on Flowmaster's site.
Anyway, as these so-called mechanics were welding my mufflers in place with J-hook exhaust hangers, the idiots actually caught my trunk on fire! I had a box in my trunk from a hydraulic jack which apparently was the source of the fire.
Here are some pictures of the damage:
Basically, I need to know what the best course of action here is. At first, the mechanic argued with me and refused to be held responsible for any of the damages. After some arguing and threatening legal action, they agreed that they will repair all of the damage on Monday at their own cost. My question is... should I let these people touch my car again? Or should I have it repaired at a Ford dealer at Precision's cost? What all needs to be replaced? From what I can tell the list of damaged parts includes the following:
Carpeting
Plastic trim pieces
Driver's side sequential tail light harness
Unknown wiring that leads to the tail light and fuel injector module (or at least that's what they called it...)
Weather stripping between the body and the bumper
Can you guys think of anything else that may have been damaged? My check engine light is on now so I will need to get the code checked to see why that is. There doesn't appear to be any major damage, but I need to make sure I don't overlook anything.

Really? I installed 3 sets of axle backs on my 07.. without a lift, and the rear parked on a curb. How can these fools mess this up? Welding them to get them to fit?
Call the BBB and maybe get your insurance involved (so they can have the repairs done on the garages dime at a better shop).
Im not sure I would let those guys fill up my windshield wiper fluid.. let alone fix fire damage.
