Default Happy Happy Day (pt2)

What a week for the Mustang.
Last Monday figured out that rodents had chewed the wires for My charge motion plates. They had never opened the 17 months I owned the car.
Got It back Tuesday...WOW This is what I thought it should be like.
Wednesday reloaded my BAMA tune. WOW again.
Friday... Got the 4:10's installed (Thank you sweetie)
It has been kinda all at once. I have a completely different car in a week. I like the 4:10's but I feel like I am having to relearn how to dive the car.
I have a very slight whine at cruise 55+, If a take my foot off the gas it stops. Not sure if that is normal or if it worth taking a chance it will be worse as a result of the "fix". Old fart rule, sometimes the fix is worse than the problem.
I must say I am finally driving the Mustang I dreamed about.

Now, I need to get the power to the pavement. Will a set of rear shocks help or not. Not sure if I will lower the car in the future. So I would want something that would work either way(lowered or stock). Thanks.

you should definitely get some lower control arms if you are looking for better traction = helps eliminate wheel hop.

The whine is from incorrect gear setup. I would take it back and have them make it right.

LCAs and better tires will go a long way traction-wise.

Down at the shop. They said yep they are not right. Not even messing with them. They are just going to start over and install a new set of gears. I like people who stand behind their work.

Edit:
Just read your replies.
Wish I would have seen this earlier so I could have given you some IMPORTANT advice,
or you would have asked about the gear install in real detail on the forum
before having them done.

Tell them to install new bearings with the gears using a MASTER install kit.
NOT the normal install kit that comes with no new bearings!
They cost about 80 bucks. That sure as shat could be the culprit of your problem!
Even on new cars the good specialty shops I know say to install new bearings because they see so many
that end up whining when the bearings are not replaced. Many shops will not do them unless a full MASTER kit
is purchased because they have had to go back and do the job again SO MANY times.

Also did you get the gears with the ending letter being an M? If so you got the Motive gears and not the true Ford Racing gears, even though Ford sells
both. You don't want the motive gears.

I sure hope you knew to do all this before you ordered the gears man!

Another thing for the future. It is IMPORTANT to name your thread about the subject you are talking
about instead of things like "Happy Day". Again name it about the subject you are talking about
such as "Need info on gear instal" or something like that.

That way it will catch the eye of people on the forum that are knowledgeable
about the subject you are talking about. Many times people won't even look at threads titled things like this because
they just think it is some random story someone is telling.

I simply came in this thread because I was bored. If I would have seen a thread
titled gear help or something I would have caught this MUCH sooner.
Odds are quite a few people would have come to read it that know about gearing and instals and what
you need to be sure to do and not do when getting this work done.

Just some advice for the future man.

Thanks Blacksmoke.
The new gears are great( the 2nd set). They were/are both Ford Racing. They are the only kind the shop will use. They are a rear-end only shop that has been in business for 35 years. They do a lot of work for the movie industry. They had 2 pickups for movies while I was there. Usually they do not know a lot about which movie until it's out.( Super secret, double agent stuff) They get some pretty funny request with very little info to go on. They had no hesitation at all, drove the car, said they are not right and put it on the rack and put a new set in. No hassle at all. They wanted to make sure I was happy. Kinda of a nice change.
I will make sure i keep the titles to the point.

Heheh the movie thing doesn't go to far as to making the car better in it's performance.
Most movies are concerned with a car's looks and that's it.
They will hire any place that will make a car look like they want.

But it's good to hear they have a good rep on doing rear ends.
THATS where you want to base their rep on, not the movie work.
The movie thing I would not give two turds about, and neither should you.
It's a neat fact, but still has nothing to do with whether they really are a
performance specialty shop that does quality work when it comes to making the car run better and faster.

Also good to hear they did not let you leave until you are happy.
THAT is the tell tale sign that you have brought your car to a quality shop!
