I don't think they should ever get rid of the V8 stang...the 4 banger should be geared more for a daily driver for mustang enthusiats that want to looks in one stang and the performance in another, lol...i'll keep my '06 GT safe in my garage and use only for summer while I beat the hell out of that 4 banger as a daily, lol

From what I am reading, Ford isn't planning on stopping production of V8s, they just want to add 4 cylindars to the mix. They want to be able to market the car as a "world car."

I personally welcome the option of bringing in a 4 banger. Lighten up the incredibly heavy mustangs and bring things back to how they were before. Smaller, lighter, and nimble cars that don't need massive power to pull them around.

No doubt I wouldn't be giving up my 5.0 for a 4 banger even if it were faster, but that doesn't mean that Ford shouldn't come up with an eco friendly option that will also lighten the load and prove to be something all together different than what the mustang has lately been known for. I think Ford needs to create a mustang of a different breed that can both appeal to muscle car lovers of old and sports car lovers of new

The 5.0 and 3.7 aren't going anywhere. Most likely a power boost for both, actually. They are just adding the 4 cylinder and SVO to the lineup.

I like the idea of a new SVO. I would definitely consider one, I loved the '84-'86s.

Wow.

I remember riding with a friend in his '89 LX 5 liter and getting STOMPED by an SVO. All that Billy Bad *** chest thumping ego wouldn't have helped my friend that night. This was the early 90s I guess. Don't underestimate boost. Especially now days with modern technology.

Yes, they had better ecoboost the 3.7L. They better not just drop in the older 3.5L sho. And while they are at it, the Coyote can see Ecoboost too for better fuel MPG and massive power increases. The best of both worlds: better CAFE and keep up on the competition.

As for the 4banger? The asshat who said this was Chris Theodore, I think. This idiot wants to remove the v8 from the GT. The GT only gets a sixxer. You would have to buy a Boss or Cobra or GT500 if you want the 8.
This jerk wants the 4banger to go in the base too.
Basically he wants to make it such that you would have to pay $60k plus for a v8 Stang.

I for one am writing a strongly worded letter to FoMoCo about this idiot and demand his removal from the company.

What I understand is, definitely 3.5 ECO for base, 5.0 DI and re-tune for GT, and 6.2 Supercharged for the Cobra.
