I'm doing the same thing to my stock sixxer wheels.

I'll use the self-etching primer, and the dupicolor wheel paint.
Should I use a clearcoat after? If so, how many coats?

I had my stock bullitt rims painted when I had my 2005 GT.
They chip, even with clearcoat. Mine was a daily driver. If I had to do it again I would have just gotten them powdercoated when I needed to get new tires.

Are you planning on blackening out the whole wheel? I think they'd look great black but with the silver rim around them.

The new trend seems to be spraying with Plastidip. That way if you get tired of it, it peels right off. Appears to be easy to do and quite durable from what I've read.

I like your wheels as they are myself, not a fan of black wheels unless the rim is polished.

yea dont primer..just get that duplicolor wheel paint its a primer and paint all in one...also do this on a sunny day...the paint is mostly fast dry..it should say on the can itself...it took me 3 hours to finish all 4 wheels...from washing to sanding to painting...its extremely easy once you get the feel for it!!

ALSO::: let the wheels sit in the sun for a couple of days before mounting them on tires!!! because if you do it the same day or even the next, even the proffessional tire shops will have problems trying not to scratch the paint off at the perimeter/ lip of the wheel since the paint is still not fully adhered to the wheel...

as many as you think will look good...but in my opinion 2 is fine to get a nice glossy look

Powder coat them professionally. It will last longer and should look much cleaner.
