2011 GT review??
Hey guys, I am thinking of trading up my GT to a 2011 (or an 07-10 Roush 427R if I can find one that is auto and for sale)
Before everyone bashes me for wanting an auto, I can not stand driving a stick around my area in traffic everyday
My question is for the 2011 owners. I have always heard not to buy the first year of a production...are the 5.0's giving any trouble? any known issues yet?
How are they compared to the old 4.6s (besides being 100hp faster, lol)

as Greg said the biggest concern would be the MT-82. Everything else seems to be working just fine.
Dont worry about getting the auto. I plan on special ordering tomorrow and I am going with the 6A. Even if the MT-82 wasnt a concern, after driving the auto, I would still buy it. And if you decide to go the mod route, which it looks like you might, getting a tune will really wake up the car and reduce the throttle lag.

The trans is the 2011 weak spot, I have an automatic and I'm really glad I didn't know how to drive a manual when I purchased. The automatic hasn't given me even a remote sign of an issue.
Other than that, if you want to aggressively tune your new car, I'd hold off or get another car because at least in my eyes, the risk of tunes messing up cylinder 8 is too high for me to justify running an aftermarket tune.

I have the 2012 GT automatic. I LOVE it. COming from someone who went from a stick (03 GT) and got stuck in a LOT of traffic, this automatic is awesome. It doesn't have paddle shifters or nothing but tbh, those are novelty things anyway. THe GT automatic is a great automatic, and this thing still packs a strong punch and will punish any stock or tuned 05-10 GT. Do it, you won't regret it.
The 5.0 engine itself has really no issues. There were issues with the #8 cylinder, but that was for people who got their cars tuned and the tuners screwed something up. Not Ford.

Agreed. I have yet to see a thread where someone had cylinder #8 issues on a non modified GT.

I found a 2011 GT automatic that has 30k miles on it....outside of that it seems pretty nice. I think with that many miles tho it might be beat to **** already....I put about 8k a year on my DD, NO IDEA how someone could put 30k on a car in less than a year

Maybe it is a rental car?

I wanted an automatic for the same reason as you, but I had to have sterling gray, and the closest one they could find was 800 miles away so I went with the 6m, but I've been wondering how the 6 speed auto was working out. Haven't read many complaints about them on here. Hopefully the 2015 will have a true dual clutch with steering mounted paddle shifters, I'll go 800 miles for one of those.
