Default Sweet, older BOSS 302

We were driving home from dinner last night (in our SUV unfortunately) when we noticed a few cars with their hoods up in a shopping center. My g/f shouted "MUSTANGS!" so we pulled in. Turns out it's a local club in our new neighborhood. Here are 2 pics of an older Boss 302 (can't recall what year the guy said it was) and this thing is CHERRY. And those are the OE 15" wheels (i LOVE that sidewall...).

1971, you don't see those around much. Nice!

sweet ride, reminds me of "gone in 60 seconds" , the real one from 1974 of course, not the poor remake.

Wish I had a girlfriend like that. Mine says "oh no--not another mustang" as she sighs and shrugs her shoulders.

It's a 351 Boss, not 302, if it's a Boss at all.
Ford made a prototype 302 in 71 but they decided to go with the 351 engine (Cleveland), and it's a good thing too.
The 71 Boss 351 was the fastest production Mustang until 2000 when they made the Cobra R.

That thing you saw isn't it.

while 'nice' it clearly shows the bloated look that was to ruin the car for the decade of the seventies.

In person, it's still a thing of beauty. I should have taken more pics because the hood was done well. The only thing that I didn't care for was how "square" the front end was. Still, the owner has kept it looking fantastic inside and out.
