Default Headed to the track for the first time!

I'm heading out to Dragway 42 to see what "Mojo" can do. Any suggestions for a first timer. Here's what has been done so far performance wise(not much but that's going to change):

JLT CAI
Bama 93 Race tune
Pypes Pype Bombs
Nitto NT555s 275/40-18

Thanks for any help guys, I'll let you know how it goes.

1. Don't be nervous. I know it's something you can't help, but there's really no reason to be. You're in a fun, controlled environment.

2. Make sure you familiarize yourself with the track's safety policies and etiquette. Both of these can vary wildly from one track to another, so it's best to talk to a track representative. Their job is to make sure that you are safe and know the rules, and they are usually very good about putting first timers at ease.

3. Have fun and be prepared to come back again... and again, and again.

Do NOT let the water touch the front tires at the burnout area. Street tires have groves in them that the water will seep into and drag along for a few meters; eliminating whatever rear traction your nittos may have. I nearly fishtailed on my first few runs because of this.

5 speed or automatic? Practice launch technique....will make or break a good time slip. Lowering air pressure in your back tires makes a difference during the launch....have fun!!

Thanks for the advice aol far guys...first run i turned a 14.86 but spun the tires off the line. My 60' was 2.85 so there is tons of room for improvement. I launched at 2k the first run...going to try 1k this time around. Any suggestions on what the launch from?...btw its raining lightly here so the track sucks lol made a 100.59 trap though

Your MPH is good for a mid 13 second 1/4 mile time. Try lowering your tire pressure....I'm gonna say 20psi but, others may state lower and keep practicing launches. Are you going through the water pit?? I wouldn't heat up a street tire, it usually makes it more slippery. I would go around the water pit and dry hop the tires to remove any minor debris (rocks, garbage). try again and have fun!!

No water pit...gave the tires a dry spin and lined up...were in a rain delay now and its not looking good in terms of weather...might be my only pass sort least i know i should be around mid to low 13s prior to 4.10s, headers and cams.

Even w/ an automatic, you should be running high 12's w/ your mods. Mine is bone stock (manual) and I ran a 12.959 @110.9.

I did the burnout w/ AdvanceTrac OFF and did the run w/ it ON.
