Default Transmission Swap on a 2005 V6 Auto

Id really like to go manual next spring, don't really know much about how to go about doing it but have a bunch of friends that could help me put it in. Anyways, where would the best place be to look for one I'd like to do it as cheap as possible, should I look in junkyards? are mustangs the only car or are there the same transmissions in other Ford cars? Any information would help Thanks

for "cheap" sake i would start in the junkyards, but be extremely careful when getting one. youd have to get a manual from another v6, clutch pedal, computer, harness, clutch, plumbing for fluid, and correct me if im wrong anyone, but also the bell housing off the v6 donor. but just fining one is easy, making sure everything inside isnt damaged is hard to make certain. in an accident the tranny is in the middle so if the driveshaft got slammed up into it in a crash it could throw off the alignment. if the motor was hit from the front it could easily tweak the imput shaft, soo keep these things in mind when looking around for one.

I would recommend going with a TR3650 swap if you want to do a manual swap (V8 tranny), the T5 is a piece of crap and more then likely you will be disappointed with it.

When you say cheap, there is no cheap. there's just cheaper. You need a lot of different parts to make the swap. I have heard some estimate $5k for parts, plus labor.

I would recommend that you don't even try it when you say you don't know much about how to go about doing it. I don't see going from an auto to a manual as a cheap or easy thing to do.
