What is the price of Ford Motorcraft spark plugs?

I called the parts departments and got quoted 25.89 each! *+#%!!! They also mention it's a new design... RockAuto sells them for <10$ a piece but it's of older design... My Champions misfire like cr.p... I can't stand it any more!

At my store we sell the motorcraft service plugs for $12.99 a piece(SP514). The Champion (7989) ones can cost around $20 a piece because they are the one piece design to keep them from the dreaded break off well worth it IMO. If Motorcraft now has thier version of this plug I imagine it would be around that price im guessing.

$69.99 for all 8 @ AmericanMuscle with free shipping. Mine should get here in a day or two.

Never heard anything about a new design. Not even after searching relentlessly on the internet.
I'd take that with a grain of salt because if there was a new design, then you would think it would be mentioned to use them in the TSB that Ford put out.
Dealerships will say anything to make a buck.

Edit: A buddy suggested checking this link out. http://www.modularfords.com/forums/f...p-again-63947/

According to these guys, the "new" plug is an Autolite HT1 and Ford rebadges as Motorcraft. Not sure if I'd use a plug that isn't gapped to factory specs...reason I went with stock plugs and will just check them every 15k or so.

I got Champions from RockAuto.com for 12.73$ a piece but the car subsequently developed massive misfires when cold, so I am thinking to give Motorcraft another chance... I did not have a problem getting OEMs out...

I'd go rockauto again. They have the best prices around pretty much, and I've personally never had a single problem with any of the products they've sold me.

Behold - got 8 Motorcrafts from local AutoZone, dropped them in... Magically ALL misfires are GONE! I hate Champion now!

I'm glad you got the Motorcrafts. With the newer Mustangs, I've been sticking with Factory parts. They seem to last a long time from the factory, so they seem to work just as well when you have to replace them. I have bought all of my Motorcraft parts from Rock Auto, Once in a while I order from Amazon. :icon_user:

I wouldn't hate on a brand of plugs because they caused misfires for you. Champions tend to be the way too go on many vehicles, the coppers burn nice and cool. Im glad you got the problem fixed!

I agree. There will be bad plugs from every company to go around. I know how he feels though, even if you're only one of very many buyers to have a problem, it doesn't make you feel any less leery of the product you just bought.

I can't see a reason why brand new plugs would throw 3 or 4 codes and make me feel like I got cams and running on 6 cylinder when coolant temps are between 30 and 60 Centigrade. I want my money back. How am I gonna feel if I find out that I spend countless hours chasing 0430 code and swapping O2 sensors for a set of faulty spark plugs? Probably set me back 300-400$!!!
