Hmm...How handy are ya with a chainsaw?...heh j/k ..Seriously, have ya checked into maybe getting a gt rear bumper? It might be possible to change em out and have the new one repainted...or for that matter maybe an aftermarket rear cover ..just a thought ..

If you only have a single axle-back muffler, there should be absolutely no reason to slice up a perfectly good bumper!

I do have to make the opening larger because when I tighten all the bolts and all of the mounts the tail pipe smashes itslef up into the bumper

If you really have to cut the bumper cover, try using a Rotozip or Dremmel tool. You should get a nice clean cut with one of those. Try reajusting the pipes first (from the axel back). If so little is touching, you may be able to tweak it just right that you won't have to touch the bumper cover.

what I may do is get a bunch of washers and put them between the black rubber mounts that attach to the underbody to try and shim it down some.

Why can't you just bend the tail pipe? I do it all the time. Use a tubing bender, if you don't have access to one, you may be able to heat the tail pipe with a torch and bend it a bit. If all else fails, take it to a muffler shop and have them fix it for you, but don't cut into your bumper cover.

I had the same issue with putting on GT take off's on my V6. Finally pulled the muffler and put a pipe on the rear hanger that is welded to the muffler to bend it up a 1/2"...rehung the muffler and no problems.

I got the Corsa exhausts. I mounted them, not worrying about lining them up perfectly. Went to my muffler shop where they heated the retaining bracket rods, adjusted the tips while hot, then let cool. Took 5 min...cost? $0.00
