Question? Why doesn't Ford advertise the Mustang 5.0 in TV ads?
I was watching the bowl games and realized Ford doesn't advertise the Mustang 5.0 in TV ads or even magazines. They never even pushed it last year when the 2011's first emerged. They aggressively pushed the V6 with its 30 MPG and that's it. I honestly believe the current gen Camaro has outsold the Mustang because of it's product placement in Transformers and its advertising. Even Dodge has had some great Challenger RT/SRT8 commercials. I can't recall any 5.0 commercials. They should have advertised this thing like crazy and let everyone know the legend is back. This was a marketing/PR failure by Ford and cost them millions in sales.

Maybe they dont need to? Sales seem to be pretty good around here I see more of them on the road then challengers or camaros. However maybe if people knew the power they have they might have sold even more

I think it has to do with people wanting high gas mileage cars now a days and the v6 gets great mpg with some kick. The car enthusiasts like us know or would have found out about the 5.0 without tv commercials. I've met a couple of people who went to buy a v6 and ended up with a 5.0. Gotta push high mpg now a days. Trucks even push their mpg's.

But I see other manufacturers advertising their performance vehicles. I just feel like Ford could have put a dollars into the 5.0's marketing. I know a ton of people that don't even know they exist, or output 412+ HP, or capable of 0-60 in 4.3 secs. Anyways, sometimes I feel like I'm driving a sleeper or more of an exotic car because people see it and be like wow! I'm talking about people in 911s and Vettes. Then they get nervous.

Come to think of it, I haven't really seen many new GT500 commercials either or even any euro market sports cars... Lately it's been toyota camry, and honda accords that dominate the airwaves, or Fords new SUV/car lineup with the taurus or flex, etc. Kinda weird, but they are catering to the current economic climate IMO.

Nowadays a 400hp V8 isn't that impressive. A 300hp V6 that gets 27 mpg is probably more impressive, and will draw more people. Most who want a V8, already know they want it and shop for it purposefully. The V6 is more likely to draw a buyer who isn't sure what they want yet.
