Look at what came out of my fuel filter!
First of all, Happy New Year everyone!
So, December 30 I decide to replace my fuel filter and wash my air filter. I take out the old filter and collect what came out of the dirty side. Take a look at this after less than 15,000 miles!
I tried to pry open the old filter but those things are really well made and my hacksaw was dull so couldn't get it open, but the contents give you an idea of what the inside must have looked like.
Considering fuel on the clean side came out pristine I'd say the oem fuel filter is really good.

You'll find that on just about every vehicle made, even with those few miles. The fuel tanks at most stations are pretty disgusting and sometimes what comes out of the fuel trucks is already contaminated with particulates. Todays engines are that much more susceptible to crap in the fuel so more frequent filter changes compared to 20+ years ago is much more common.
