Sorry about the dump question. 3.73 or 4.10

Hi everyone, sorry about the dump question. I'm going to install a new set of gear. I'm currently running stock 3.31, manual trans. I'm looking to get either 3.73 or 4.10. I mostly drive in city. What do you guys suggest? Thank you. and what is the different between the FRPP ones and the motive ones.

I drove the 3.3s and the 3.7s and I went with the 3.7s when it came time to purchase - seems 3.5s aren't really something they keep around on lots. the 3.3s were a little sedated and the 3.7s were pretty aggressive, but they really woke the car up and got it into the powerband quickly.

I feel like 3.7 is a bit too aggressive though after owning it for a few weeks, and I think I would have been happier with the 3.5s.

4.1s .. man, 1st gear is probably next to non existent there : ). I'd try to find a local owner that has them so you can see if you'd like them first - best way to avoid buyers remorse! gears are really a drivers preference mod though.

My advice 3.73 and avoid Motive gears.

What is wrong with the motive ones?

More likely to end up with a noisy axle. Supposedly there's a slightly different installation procedure that minimizes this, but not all gear installers seem to have heard of it or follow it if they have.

4.10s. My dad's DD GT/CS has 4.10s among other mods, and it makes for a great drive. FRPP non-motive gears have not made any noise since we had brenspeed do the install this summer.

Rainson! I was just wondering about you the other day because I haven't seen you around! If you can get the FRPP that is the way to go, much less chance of whine with those.

4.10s!!! Don't fear the gear!
