Default Just bought a 2007 Ford Mustang Premium..

Hey everyone I'm brand new here being a new Mustang owner. So I was doing research and found the Mustangs to be good, so yesterday I bought an 07 Mustang with 48K miles, leather seats, shaker system, sirius radio. I really like it, but today I was reading reviews and found that a few people have issues with suspension, car shutting off, gas tank fueling, super low gas mileage and battery. Now I'm kinda worried as I dont want to be driving and have my car shut off randomly. I did notice that so far Im getting like 13 mpg (ive only driven in the city so far though). I dont notice any electrical issues, but I do hear a chirping sound (maybe a belt?)

Carfax looked fine, it did say "battery replaced" around 29K, and a fuse was replaced too. Other than that it had no issues.

Do any of you know if certain models or certain VINs had the issues I listed?

I wouldn't worry about it. I've had zero issues with my 07 other than replacing the battery. Congrats and enjoy!

I own a 07 Mustang GT with 62k miles. No electrical issue. I replaced my battery at around 60k.

There are differences. such as suspenstion, exhaust, intake, driveshaft(maybe not), exterior ect.

There are a few things that can go wrong with these cars.
However, most of us on the forums have only had a few hiccups with our 05-09s.
The only problem I have had is the battery dying at 48k miles and the water leak at nearly 70k miles. The 4.0 may not be a fast motor, but it very dependable.

Unless you just got a lemon or abuse the car it will last you a long time to come.

Congrats and welcome to the forum.

well i guess i feel a bit better about it lol. Ya I know the mustangs are a bit notorious for having the water leak under the glove compartment (heater core i think it is). I test drove a 2006 and it leaked while i was driving, pretty bad too. A heater core is like a $1200 fix? As soon as my car hits 60K im gonna get a warranty for the powertrain, no way do i want to do a 1200 fix by myself.

oh ya, and what sort of gas mileage are you all getting? So far im getting about 13.8 in the city. Im gonna check the filters and oil to see if a tune up might help.

Congrats and welcome!

The water leak is usually the drains getting clogged with debris and water coming in through the cabin air filter. If you look under the hood near the back of the cam covers you will find 2 black rubber pieces on the firewall about 1.5 inches wide. Those are your drain vents. You can stick your fingers in them and check if they are clear.

Get out there and enjoy driving it, these are FUN cars.

I do mostly interstate driving and I average 25-27 cruising at 80ish.
In the city it tanks to about 18-20 if I baby it.
