Just take a screwdriver and push the clip on the door in where the door closes. Essentially you're fooling the door into thinking it's shut and the window will roll back up. Just make sure to open the locking mechanism back up (pull the handle) before you shut the door.
Thank you. btw - I won't be doing the tint myself. Was just curious as I am going to have it done and am still looking for installers. Will make sure they are aware of this if not already.
My installers used the screw driver method as well. I assumed they would just do the majority of the window and then sit inside with the door closed to do the bottom.
Was wondering how window tinting is done as the windows drop down a bit when door opens. How do they bypass this to tint the bottom part? Thanks.
Think everyone covered this Q for ya, but wanted to add depending on your year car, you may still need to get that felt lining added so your tint doesn't get scratched when the windows go up/down. Forget which years it was, but they didn't have that installed in the doors by default - they changed that before the 05-09 cars finished their run though - just don't recall what years it was?
Either way a good tint place should catch that - but you might want to check your model car and see if you have that felt piece in your window, to be sure.
They added the moleskin starting with the 2007 model. I have a 2006 and just went to the local Ford dealer for the upgrade piece. It was fairly inexpensive and really easy to install
