The 5.0 is a better car from the dealers floor, plus as mentioned, CIA, 93 octane high performance tune, cat back exhaust, easily raise the RWHP to 395-400rwhp, which is a good deal more than the basic FI the 05's had with most basic "safe" kits. 460 crank HP for very little money, then the Ford racing suspension or track pack. Fast fun car.

You don't need the bigger brakes unless for vanity like me, or the track, otherwise stock brakes are excellent. Then save up and get the better looking Ford front facia/chin unit, and the newer better looking rear Ford facia/diffuser unit, you've got a hot car. Erik

All I can think of as far as getting a tad bit more HP is improve breathing through the stock air filter box. Maybe they also improved the stock intake tube from the air box to the intake manifold.
All I know is the current '11-12 GT air boxes actually flow a bit less than the 2010 GT air boxes.

This is why a CAI and tune will easily add some very noticeable output at the wheels.

I think it's for advertising purposes. The 11/12 seemed to be a bit underrated on dynos. Chevy did the same thing with the camaro's v6.

From what you've written, seems like you will be ok with the 5.0...If it's not going to cause a financial burden on you, then I'd say go for it. Good luck with your purchase down the road

Pretty much my opinion. And most of these guys with the 5.0 will eventually put a blower on there anyway, possibly forge it at some point, etc. so it's not like you can write that cost off the car because you're fooling yourself if you think it'll never happen.

I've been in a friend's kona blue premium 2012. The interior is better than the 05-09 however it is not as big of an upgrade as the 05-09 was over the new edge. I was not bowled over by the interior of the 2012 vs my 2006 car. It was better but the way people talk about it - it should be night and day. It's an incremental upgrade IMO.

You raised a legitimate point, one that I failed to articulate. The main factor that keeps me from buying an 11+ GT or an 07+ GT500 is that even though both cars are better in stock form than my '06 GT, I know I would still add engine, suspension, brake, and power adder mods. So in that case, the factory installed upgrades on those cars aren't worth the money for me.

At this point, the only way I'd upgrade from my 06 GT to an 11+ GT or an 07+ GT500 would be for the benefit of buying a car with lower miles. Other than that, I'm all set with my '06.
