2011 5.0 or 05-09 GT
Help me out guys. I'm 20 and have wanted a mustang for some time now. I have saved up 8,000 for a good down payment now I'm stuck trying to decided which car would be the better choice.
Ill start by saying I make enough money to afford either, and my credit is also good.
The decision comes down to a 300hp $15,000 (05-09 GT) car that will need many power adders to be where I would like to be. By choosing this car I would probably only put down 4,000 which would leave me 4,000 for modding.
or
A 2011 used GT low miles cost about $28,000 wont need much modding because out of the box 400hp is very nice. I would continue to save until I got to 12-15k for a nice down payment. No money to mod right away.
You will ask why such a large down payment, and the reason is I want to keep my car note low... No higher than 400 a month.
What are yalls thoughts? Im leaning towards the older one because it wont cost as much for insurance, but I worry I wont be satisfied with the horsepower.
If yall agree with this then what modds should I do. My goal would simply be I wouldnt want to line up vs the 5.0 stock and lose.

5.0, for alot of reasons imo. First you get a warrantee which covers any issues. 2nd, the insurance difference is negligible. 3rd, the financing rates on new cars are better, 4th you have 412 hp stock, 5th the 5.0 has far more potential when you do run out of warrantee and have it paid off, supercharger = like 600 hp

I'm partial to the rear and front styling of the '05-'09s but you gotta love the power of the 5.0.
You need to decide on this one. The 5.0 puts down power with a few bolt ons equivalent to a FI'd 4.6.

The 5.0 will put down about 365 off the assembly line and loosen up about another 15-25 RWHP after a few thousand miles. A good CAI & custom tune adds another 30 or more RWHP on the 5.0. I believe an aftermarket intake like the one on the Boss has provided some decent gains but I don't recall the #'s. Toss in a few other mods and you're up there with an FI'd 4.6L.

I love my car, but I'd probably buy a new 5.0 if I were in your situation. However, for the 05-09, you could supercharge it and be in the same if not higher power level as a new 5.0. Plus you would have cash left over for mods like suspension. Tough choice.

I've got the Stage 1 performance package from Brenspeed which includes cold air intake, 93 octane race tune, axleback mufflers, and midpipe. I had it dynoed and now it's at 425 rwhp. My 06 I had only had 400 rwhp with my Saleen supercharger. I love this car. It rides better than my 06 did also. I loved my 06, but this one seems to be built better.
