Changing the last few digits will not work or it shouldn't. The VIN is not only a sequence to let you know everything about the car, but it is a mathmatical equation that if altered, will not conform within the computers.

Glad you figured it out, but it aint no thang to share your vin, esp. when ordering parts. It helps the vendor ensure you get the right part for your application.

I am a service advisor at a foreign car dealer, we have to have a vin # when looking up parts, otherwise we have to filter thru so many options and production dates it's ridiculous.

Its OK as long as its only the # they want and
not for you to go rempve your VIN tag and send
it to them in an envelope.
Maybe they want to do a CarFax on your vehicle.
Or to make sure its not stolen.
Its not stolen, is it?
