The Challenger SE is a very slow vehicle and unless its a 2012 model the interior isn't very nice especially compared to your 2010's.

what homework? i've never heard of a 2nd gear whine?

My 2012 came with really bad gear whine... I blame the jerks at ford that drove my car for 17 miles before letting me take it.. i ordered it so nobody else should have driven it.. i didn't worry about it too much though because I knew I was changing to 4.10 gears... new gears are really quiet now.

Anyway, to answer your thread title. No, You shouldn't be worried about a little 2nd gear whine, but if you have to have it perfect go for it, Ford will fix it.

Oh that would have burnt me up. Someone driving my special ordered car. I wouldn't have worried about some whine unless it was really bad

Ill keep you guys posted when I get the car back...I called dealer again today and car is not ready yet which annoyed me but I guess since I got a free rental I can't complain.

Thanks for your word Mishri.

So I finally got the Mustang back so here's the update.

Road Tested vehicle and verified slight gear whine in 2nd gear only. Ran OASIS, No TSB'S or SSM;'S for concern. Contacted hotline, Am waiting for response. Removed transmission, mounted to bench, tore down and inspected. Unable to find any abnormal wear patterns on any gear, But with noise only occuring in 2nd, ordered countershaft and 2nd gear. Overhauled transmission replacing components and bearings as needed, reassembled, reinstalled in vehicle, Bled clutch system, topped up fluid and retested. FOUND GEAR NOISE REDUCED BUT NOT COMPLETELY ELIMINATED.
Parts Changed:

Mainshaft 2nd speed
Countershaft drive
Synchronizer Asy - 1st and 2nd
Bearing
Snap Ring
Snap Ring
Sealant - Silicone

So I guess the gear whine is normal...I mean like it says on report it did get reduced a whole lot. I can still hear the slight whine when I have my radio off. Tech told me if gear whine got worse I could bring it in again and they would take the next step (Im guessing a new tranny). Since Ford checked it and no abnormal wear patterns were found I should be good...RIGHT?...RIGHT?

Seems any car we order will have miles on it. It will never be zero. They have to take it out, make sure it works. I wouldn't want one right off the line that wasn't driven first. Mine had 14 miles on it after it showed up. If it is up over 30 or 40, then that is weird, unless it was delivered to the wrong dealership, or something like that.

All new cars are driven 15-20 miles after coming off the assembly line... you know.... to make sure it works.
