I've driven the 4.6 and 3.7 and personally, butt-dyno gives a big edge to the 4.6. When I drove the 6 cylinder after i drove the 4.6, it definitely felt less available, you feel it high up but down low the 8 just has a noticeable advantage. It's true that you definitely feel the torque more than the hp at least for a good portion of the RPM range.
The 3.7 was fun though, but I imagine if you were on a road course you'd want to be sure that you kept the rpms between 5000-7000 or else you just wouldn't be having very much fun. Looking back on it, for me it would've been a much more logical and smart choice for me to have the 3.7 i test drove, but unfortunately my seat of the pants dyno loves the pricey cars.
