Question to 5 spd Manual Owners about Warmup

Hey guys, satisfying my "ocd" once and for all here. Short, sweet, and simple.

When you first start up, are your first few shifts a little "rough" before the trans is warmed up? Then buttery smooth? Or buttery smooth from the start?

Thanks in advance!

Mine definitely smoothes out as it gets warmer. Hurst shifter and RP fluid

I recall the same thing when I was in Illinois. But since Florida, it rarely gets cold enough to cause the rough shifting.

A good synthetic like Amsoil should cure that.

I'm running Redline which helped significantly. Like it would still shift roughly even when warm sometimes...

It doesn't even have to be cold. When it's warm, it's usually only my first shift into 2nd gear that's rough. Like I can feel and hear the engagement. When it's cold outside, obviously it takes a little longer, maybe 5 min of driving, to warm up and shift like butter.

Just trying to figure out if I should still be going after Ford to get this fixed before my warranty's up or if it's normal and obsessing over it haha.

It's a little extra notchy for the first minute or so. After that, it's business as usual. If it's colder out, it might take a touch longer for the tranny to warm up. And if it's oppressively hot out, it takes a little less time. Regardless, it seems to be completely normal. Hasn't gotten any different in the 70k I've put on it.

Yes mine has always been a little notchy at first until I've gone down the road for a minute or two.
