Good to know mine isn't the only one doing that ... Somebody will eventually figure it out ... I noticed that "pfft" noise also even with the car turned off ... Was thinking maybe it has something to do with the A/C ...

Well, when its turned off the a/c will equalize pressure inside the system.............so you will hear the sound of rushing air after you shut off your motor............thats normal. The clicking sound is when the a/c clutch engages..............thats normal too.

Hmm, that seems reasonable enough. Thanks for the explanation! Just curious, how did you find out what those little noises mean?

The mechanic at my dealership heard it and immediately told me that it was the a/c cycling or resetting itself and that it was normal. He said that all Fords that he knew of (newer) had the same thing and that it was normal.

I have had no problems with it other than the annoying sound.

My Taurus, Winstar, and Aerostar all made the same clicking noise along with my 05 Mustang. It's a Ford thing.
