MPG's keep dropping! Can't figure out why. Please help.

I replaced the fuel filter with another motorcraft one off of American Muscle's website. And all of the fuel I have been using is Bp and Shell, which are the same stations I have always filled at. I might change my filter again to see what happens.

How do I tell if i have a clogged cat? Prefferably without taking it off. Never had to deal with a cat problem before so i don't know.

If you have a clogged Cat, there will be a definite loss in performance and mpg. The only way to tell is to take them off I think. A decent muffler shop may be able to help you with that.

The way converters are checked for clogging is by drilling a hole before the converter. A pressure gauge is used in the hole. Over 2psi is excessive and indicates a clogged cat.

And yes, you would be experiencing a power loss. Acceleration would be way down. An old dead Yugo could beat you from stoplight to stoplight.
