Default How to clean the air filter

I have a C&L air intake on my 07 mustang GT. The air filter needs to be cleaned. The guys at the local goodyear said they can do it for like 15 bucks.

What do I need to do to do this myself? Can i just hose it off and let it dry in the sun? or is there more to it?

THANKS

if you clean it with a hose and let it dry, it will most likely be good. but its recommended you spray some air filter oil on your filter

I bought a $20 kit off of AM that's supposed to last 350k miles (7 cleanings over 50k time periods).

Hose it down, let it dry. After it's COMPLETELY dry, then apply spray (or liquid) filter oil. Allow to sit and dry up. Touch up spots if needed. Allow to dry. Re-install.

Just make sure you don't over oil it, you'll end up screwing up your MAF sensor if there's too much oil on that filter.

How long does it take to dry? I think I'm almost ready to clean mine as well, but it's my daily driver so I can't stay without the filter for too long.

I use the K&N Aerosol Recharger Filter Care Service Kit
to clean my JLT filter.
