Default So guess what paint is cracking AGAIN?

Yep, thats right....my under hood flame painted pieces are. Ordered them from action auto accessories. This will be the SECOND time that this stuff has cracked. He sent me the repainted piece and it didn't even match the flames on any of the other pieces. To think I paid 1300$ for these 3 pieces to be painted and its been probably a year since we put them on. I will now be sticking to the guy who painted my rear valance.

My question is...what should I do next? I will NOT show my car with cracks in the paint under the hood. I want to do something different. Anyone have some ideas? I thought about painted the pieces black with gold ghost flames like on my decklid panel on the back.

thoughts?

Seems like the paint used is not really intended for engine type tempuratures. If you get the parts painted over (with or without same type of flame design)...get a written guarantee on the lifetime of the paint/work. You will not be able to control the expanding/contracting properties of the parts...but you may be able to find some type of paint that is flexible enough not to crack. Good Luck!!!

It depends on how bad the cracks are. If they are small hairline cracks, that isn't the end of the world, especially if you are actually driving the car.

You could say that right now it is a hairline crack but as this paint has cracked before and the guy had to repaint it the cracks spread and it all starts to peel off. I do drive the car daily but by no means should my paint be cracking. I show my car too and they count off for stuff like this. I am probably going to have them repainted by someone I can trust...do the background black with gold ghost flames to match the rear decklid panel.

Call me OCD or whatever but I have high standards for my car and for something to do this AGAIN after being on there for about 8 months...I could understand it if this was 3-4 years down the road.
