No question is a noob question, and above the boot it can look like any other. A Short shifter replaces the whole part underneath the boot making the "throws" or distance to each gear from neutral shorter, meaning you can shift into gear quicker. In racing, pound it in and gas it basically. That being of course you time your shifting with your foot too. :P If you still have the stock distance to each gear, or just replaced the shifter part of the system meaning the ****/shifter itself then it is not a short throw.
In regards to suspension also look into LCA's, sway bars, and springs. Those all help in cornering. God knows mustangs need that haha.

Example:
Replace your stock part with this: http://fordracingparts123.com/images/m-7213-k.jpg And you do not have a short shifter. Only changed the **** and handle.
BUT if you swapped your stock shifter with this: http://www.roushperformance.com/i/pa...37_385x270.jpg then you DO have a short shifter.

Well, if I post a picture of the shifter in first and a picture of it in 2nd, do you think you could tell me? Or is there a fairly easy way to look under? The shift distance is plenty short, so even if it is a stock shifter, I think I'm happy with it. I'm just curious.

Edited my post, refer to that if you know what part you bought/have in the car.

Unfortunately, I do not have a clue as I haven't messed with anything on the interior since I bought it. I will go check the sticker and see if there is anything on there. I'll take a pic of it in first and second while I'm out there. BRB

If it came on the car as a stock Roush it most likely is a upgraded shifter, but not the full package if you get what I mean. If its the one Im thinking it may not be big enough of a change to spend 200+ bucks unless you find it to be. I just know it was a BIG change from the leather shifter Ford provides. And alright Ill look and give what info I can.

I checked the sticker and I see nothing about a short throw. I still took the pictures though.

Nice shots. Looks very scenic in your driveway to me. You didn't have to go far.

Thanks man. It's nice to see a fellow Georgian. I don't suppose you're going to the Pony Wars in a couple weekends in Adel? I googled really quick and I see you're above atlanta, so that's a bit of a drive for you.

Yeah, fellow Georgian who escaped Fla. 16 years ago. No we won't be in Adel, we're going to be in Dallas, Ga. that's about fifteen miles west of Marietta, for a car show at Hardy Family Ford. Maybe we'll meet up one day. We do a LOT of shows.

Sounds good to me! I'll be in or close by Marietta this weekend. My 21st birthday was this past Sunday and I couldn't celebrate because of the day(duh) and the finals I have today and tomorrow. So I'll be catching up then!
