Default Painted wheels....black paint on chrome wheels...HELP!!!

I have a friend that got an '09. He had chrome wheels on it from the factory. He decided he wanted them black so he spray painted them with Walmart spray paint. I know it was a bad idea for him. I need help from you guys. I don't want you all to tell me how crazy he is just please give me advice as to how to safely, as not to scratch the chrome underneath, take the paint off of these wheels. Thank you in advance.

Paint thinner and LOTS of rubbing. If that doesn't work try acetone. You can get big cans for cheap at Home Depot. You can also get some rubbing compound and try that. Not sure if he will ever get it all off though. Could try a pressure washer from like an inch away. If he did a lousy prep job some if it might come off. Honestly, if he wants black wheels he should go to a body shop. They can sand them smooth and then paint. Probably only cost a few hundred dollars.

Brake fluid works wonders on removing spray paint.

Shouldn't be too terrible using the methods listed above, especially if it was rattled canned on a chrome surface.

Did he sand the chrome to make paint stick? If not try a pressure washer.

I'm pretty sure he didn't sand it. I'll try these methods. Thank you all.

If you ever heard John Boy and Billy this will make sense

"If you see goober tell him I said duhhh"

Sorry I had to, I hope you all can get it off. The brake fluid should peel it right up, it always does when you dont want it to.

If he wants them black, tell him to go to a shop and have them paint them or powder coat them. Powder coating looks great and they can do any type of finish.
