This brings me to my point. Iv seen things about shims being put in and k members and other stuff to help with this issue. Anyone have any PROVEN facts to helping the awful 2nd to 3rd in these cars?

Im def considering a short throw but trying to pick one is seemingly a task and I may jus go with the cheapest one with the better reviews or the Barton.

Any input appriciated!
MGW is your answer.
Barton is good but NOTHING compares to the MGW shifter.
NOTHING. Missing 2-3 with the MGW would take a person without a hand.
That thing shifts like butter

I like that shifting write up. I learned a long time ago shifting the T-56 that the shifter will find the gate on its own when up shifting.

Wise decision. I have had people with just about EVERY other kind of shifter drive my 06GT when I had it with it's MGW.
Even they agreed it was light years ahead of the others.

MGW is just the KING of shifters.
You will be AMAZED at how much you can customize the shift distance too in them. That is SUCH a good attribute that really no one else has that ALL should have.
Barton may have this feature now but I'm not sure.
I do know NOTHING can compete with the smoothness and accuracy of the shifting in the MGW.

first time on the drag with my mustang yesterday, god it was awful, first run missed third gear, second gear missed two time second gear, I left the drag right after, shame on me, couldnt even get a decent running time, any way to identify which shortshift model I have, bought the car and no idea what is on it, it is modified tho...

If your shifting is bad, you do not have a MGW that's for sure.
And are you even certain it is a short throw shifter? If you don't like the shifting you might as well replace it with the MGW. It's not an expensive mod by any means and you don't want to not enjoy running at the track because your shifts suck butt. Just replace that sucker with the MGW and make your track runs fun.
