i believe the manual "recommends" 5K. if you do stop and go driving daily, I'd change more frequently. you can change your oil daily if you like and the engine will love it but it's not economical unless you are Bill Gates.

Just nailed 2,000mi. over the weekend by driving to and from San Diego (200mi round trip).. which reminds me I should check my oil. In any case, I'd like to know what oil you guys use (or recommend), too

I changed my oil at 500 miles... then at 1000 miles with normal ford oil (dealership did it)... then at 2000 miles switched to mobil 1.... plan on changing around every 3 or 4 k from now on.

So far with just a little under 11K on my car since May 14th, I have changed the oil twice. Once at 3K and again at 8K. I usually go 5-6k between changes because I drive mostly all highway driving. If I changed mine every 3K, I would be at the dealer every month changing the oil.

You guys are wasting a lot of of oil and money. These engines are engineered to run the first 5K with the break in oil, then change it aftrer that.. The first oil change after 5K should be with a synthetic. Either Redline or Amsoil. Mobil one comes in third. Either use their filters or a Wix or Motorcraft.

how do you know this? I got a Synthetic to put in some expensive Mobil 1
type that was recomended to me. I'm also going to install an orange Fram w/it.
I plan on every 3K because I STOMP THAT ACCELERATOR!
