2012 MUSTANG 5.0 GT VALUE?
#21
I went through a few problems with my first used 11 and the dealer backed the deal out. 2 months ago I found a 12 premium - brembo with a few adds that had a MSRP of 38,800 and the actual selling price was 32,865 after rebates. The kicker was my trade allowance. They gave me 18,500 for my 07 gt that had a clean NADA trade of 17,650 (with all adds) Two other dealers offered me 12-14K for it. They're selling at auction for about 15,500.

Not trying to be rude, but you may not know a whole lot about buying a car....Damn I sound like an *** here, and Im sorry buttttt....
When you go to buy a car the first thing I do is ask for the fleet / credit union manager. Once I sit down I ask, What is the invoice price? He prints me a paper with invoice price and MSRP. Invoice is the price that you should always start with. You should NEVER pay more than invoice price MINUS fords rebates. Why should you pay more than the dealer pays?? That makes no sense the dealer is just the middle man, and they make money by moving the cars off the lot quickly. They also make money on trade ins, and naive people.
Which in my case invoice price was a little over 28k, ford was offering 2k off the gts, and I also got another $500 rebate for being a full time student.
So that put me at 25,500, but I wasn't done... then you make the dealer get into their "Hold back" which is basically they make more money if they sell the vehicle within the first 90 days of it being on the lot. In my case the car had just arrived the previous week, soooooo I got another two hundred off.
I have a very detailed paper explaining the car buying process that I wrote last semester... Car shopping is truly a game of chess...
In the end I got my 2012 GT base for 25,300 plus TT&L.
26,9XX Out the door.
And honestly if I would have been a tad bit more patient I believe I could have got a few hundred more off...

I bought mine used so i dont think rebates would apply to me, would they? I also doubt they would tell me exactly what they paid for it as a trade in. There were 2 2011s at the dealer i went to , a race red premium brembo brake package one with hood scoop roush exhaust, hurst shifter etc for 28000 they were asking and it had 17k miles. The one i bought 2011 premium with premium wheels all stock etc 15k miles for 27000. The race red was probably a better deal but I wanted the gray. I traded in my old mustang and negotiated the price they gave me for that up and they took a bit off the 27k asking price i think 26800 is what i got it for, 6000 for my trade in 03 mustang with 105k miles (average trade in value is 5k). Ended up getting a deal i was happy with since my old mustang needed a new intake manifold and some other work which would total about 2000. I put 3k for tax title etc down and financed ~20k@355$ a month. I think original MSRP of mine was like 32500 - not sure what rebates it would have qualified for.
Ive since put on steeda sport springs with koni yellows, forgestar f14's with pilot supersports, roush axlebacks, 5% tint. Sold my stock premium wheels and tires for 1150. loving it

I never said rebates, or invoice price would apply to you. I just pointed out the fact that you should refrain from criticizing people who bought new, and received a good deal.
On another not it seems you didn't make it out to bad yourself, and you also have good taste. Race REDDD!!

Not to thread steal !...
But I am looking for a 2010 GT.. I was hoping to only spend around 17-19k, but all I have seen across the country are premiums running for 23,500-29,000...Does not seem I can get one that low at all, what do you guys think?

Just out of curiosity why is your heart set on a 2010? You can find a 2011 5.0 for those prices.

THESE ATTACHED PICS ARE OF A 2012 BLUE/WHITE STRIPES GT WITH AUTO TRANS AND 21,000 MILES. CLOTH SEATS AND IN GREAT LOOKING CONDITION. THEY ARE ASKING $25,900, BUT I THINK $20-$22,000 IS MORE IN LINE EVEN THOUGH IT IS A 2012, IT HAS HIGH MILES AND CLOTH SEATS INSTEAD OF LEATHER. ANY OPINIONS OR ADVICE IS APPRECIATED. (JPGS MAY NOT OPEN, NOT SURE SINCE THERE WASN'T A WAY TO ADD ATTACHMENTS TO THE THREAD)

so you are saying a 2012 5.0 automatic is worth 16k dollars? .... BS
I think even a dealer would pay 21k or more for it as a trade in, mabe 23k+
it still has 2+ years of bumper to bumper warrantee..
In my opinion 5.0's will hold their value since the engine is much more desireable than any of the previous year GT's

I would hit them in the low 20's and come up. It is a high mileage for 1 year and new body style is out as well. Never be afraid to hit the dealer low as they are not afraid to hit you high. And if it doesnt work out, walk. There are plenty of cars out there, more so than there are buyers.
