GT500 vs ZL1 On Dyno
#11
i'm pretty sure that the ZR1 will beat the GT500.
1/4 mile the 2012 zr1 does it in 11.2, 0-60 in 3.3, lateral accelleration 1.3 g's
curb weight 3324 lbs
but the new zr1 hasn't come out quite yet.
Order66, I will keep it civil and on topic this time.

Let's also remember that the ZR1 is Chevy's flagship sports car. They couldn't have a modified version of the Camaro, which is at least $50K less, out perform the ZR1 on a dyno. Bad PR. I'm curious how much more power a tune will be able to get out of each the ZL1 and GT500.

Not sure where you got your pricing from. According to edmunds.com they are both in the $54k range.
ZL1 is $54,095
GT500 is $54,200
You can load them with options (including an automatic on the ZL1, which surprised me), but the base prices are almost the same on the two cars.

It actually fits with the Chevy spokesperson who talked about their "simulations" after the GT500 was announced - he was doing pure bench racing. Looks like the bench racing though isn't quite going the same way as his simulation did before the GT500 hit the streets.

i should have said the GT500 is the most powerful production V8, not the fastest. The ZR1 is a few tenths faster in the 1/4 mile. 11.2 vs 11.5 or thereabouts.
still...bang for buck...you cant touch a GT500.

I guess - it just seems silly to have a dyno queen war. we all knew what was going to dyno higher.. where the interest comes in is actual performance comparisons and how they can actually use that power
