won't even be close. Shelby has 100 more hp and 250 lbs less weight.

power/weight ratio advantage? yes. don't discount the suspension and engineering of the ZL1 though.

not to mention, the GT500 has gearing built for 200mph. that's not always a good thing for all applications.

The 2013 Shelby GT500 now has launch control. I think someone tested it and got 3.3 seconds 0-60 and 11.5 in the quarter...

yeah - I give the clear advantage on the drag strip to the gt500 .. but I think the ZL1 will trump it on most tracks. there are a few with enough straights where I think the GT500 would blow it away.

I wouldn't be too sure of that. The Boss was only a second or 2 behind the ZL1 in that track comparison - with over 220 horsepower less than the new GT500.

It will definitely will be an interesting comparison on the track!

still...bang for buck...you cant touch a GT500.
Wasn't that ZL1 on drag radials?? I'm sure the clip i saw of the GT500 was on stock wheels / tires

im talking out my a$$ since i have no facts to quote or to back this up, but based on videos and articles ive read, the zl1 cant beat this car at anything other than sucking. i happen to like camaros, but the 2013 GT500 is just beastly. there is not another car on the planet earth that can compare with it at that price.

i should say, the ZL1 cant beat it at anything other than finishing 2nd. the ZL1 is an impressive car for sure.

1/4 mile the 2012 zr1 does it in 11.2, 0-60 in 3.3, lateral accelleration 1.3 g's
curb weight 3324 lbs

but the new zr1 hasn't come out quite yet.

Order66, I will keep it civil and on topic this time.
Yeah, I don't see a GT500 touching a ZR1 at the track.

You can load them with options (including an automatic on the ZL1, which surprised me), but the base prices are almost the same on the two cars.
After destination charges they both come out to 54,995, however the ZL1 has a $1300 gas guzzler tax for the manual and $2600 for the auto.

More contemplation... I still hold my verdict that the GT500 looks far better than the Camaro. I know i see TONS of both on the road, but the new mustangs look pure sex. Especially with those taillights, rims, badging, trim...

Lately I see more camaros than anything.
