Default Cherry Bomb glasspacks with turndowns

Hey all, I thought I would try something different for my exhaust, so I had 18" glasspacks installed with turndows before the rear axle.

Pic:

They sound really... angry

Here is a Video, but the sound quality is poor, they sound much better live.

Would those be considered legal, especially in CA?

How do they sound under load?

I have a couple of ideas on filling in the cutouts, worst comes to worst I'll look for a complete fascia that has no cutouts (kinda like the Saleen (I think) body kit that uses side exhaust), and I've owned a few cars with in front of axle dumps and so far no problems with exhaust fumes.

No reason for them not to be legal, I have not messed with the cats or any of the other smog related equipment, and as long as I don't jump on it, the noise level is moderate. Under full on it throttle these things scream.

I know that in some states, ANY exhaust that exits the system while directly under the vehicle is reason for failing inspection. Not so in CA?

Not that I'm aware of (unless something has changed in the last few years), and I have had a couple cars pass smog with dumps, maybe it's a "safety thing" and the cars won't pass the states safety inspection. I dunno.

edit> Just looked through the California vehicle code, and it appears that noise and smog are the only things governed, now with that been said, there is a provision in the code that states that the exhaust should be in good working order so as to not allow exhaust gases in to the passenger cabin... So I guess a cop could try to make an argument for writing a citation on those grounds. I'll chance it

I like it looks good get a bolt in 3" x pipe and I bet it will really scream.
Shame I'm at work right now so I can't hear it!
If you want the back to look better without the tips you could get the gt500 insert or boss insert and that will help it look better or just tape it off and spray the whole area flat or matte black?
What other mod plans do you have man?
Don't our rear ends looks so bad? And right from the factory to

LOL! Ummm, no. Any exhaust that exists before the rear axle is illegal

I'm sure this varies state to state, but California most likely started that law!

Eventually I want to do a full exhaust, long tube headers, high flow cats, ect.

You are more then welcome to look through the California Vehicle Code and show me where it states that "Any exhaust that exists before the rear axle is illegal", oh and since sidepipes exit before the rear axle are they also illegal???
