Getting it in is the first priority, however, so this paycheck is getting spent on taking a girl to dinner and the horse races.

Women will notice bud. You aren't driving a beamer or a mercedes so you have to look rich even harder to get the gold diggers for the 1 night stand and the win. Clearly this is off topic. Make it perfect or lose to me!
OP, you find a painted part, you buy it. Screw the hassle of getting it. It's far cheaper than buying anything else and getting it painted.
Also, to answer the Q about your GF's ride, about $300 - $500 for a top of the line paint job.

I am a woman and I notice those things all the time.

It's an excuse for a nice new rear end! A gt500 rear maybe. And as far as the exhaust goes, I got mine for 10 bucks off craigslist. It was off a 2010 gt exhaust. And it sounds loud and mean. Amazing what you can find. Happy spendings!

Now, as far as my profile here goes, everything says I'm from New Jersey. Which I am. But for 9 out of the 12 months of the year, I live in Morgantown as I attend WVU, which is indeed one state over. Are you stalking me?
Anyways, I guess I will continue to search Craiglist. Seems like that is the best thing to do in terms of money saving.
So I figure on about $250-300 for a bumper and an exhaust which is half the battle. Is it wise to search for/buy used electronic parts, like head units?
Also, again, I am new to cars. Is there anything else I should definitely look to upgrade that will give my baby that "DAAAAAAMN" factor that isn't ridiculously expensive?
