13 GT500 hp wars

this is one of the most uninformed / biased posts I've read in a long time. totally apples to oranges though, rwd vs awd, tt v6 vs sc v8, totally different price ranges and target customers.
the gt-r is not hyped up - the gt-r is a true performer and is destroying cars 3-5x it's price tag! respect where respect is due. much like the GT500, it is an absolute bargain for the performance level you get.
doesn't have anywhere near the potential of the GT500? stock for stock, it would already slap it around on both the quarter mile and on a race track. obviously if you extend beyond the quarter in a straight line, the GT500 will continue to pull on the GTR though. mod for mod? they are both boosted platforms, there is plenty of potential in BOTH cars. you can definitely get more out of the GT500 with less money, though. much cheaper platform to mod and extract power from. driver for driver, the GTR is much easier to control and get the most out of. the car is a technical marvel and most people could push it hard pretty easily.
breaking the things trying to make decent power? what car doesn't get mangled in peoples quest for more power? they can make a ton of power reliably, some people are just greedy or make poor decisions. you will find the same thing happening to the GT500 at times - people will over do it, testing the limits. the GT500 is not bulletproof, but it is a pretty stout platform that can easily handle more power.
gussied up 370z? I assume you just felt like you wanted to lash out at the other comment .. but guess what? the gt500 IS on the same platform as a regular ol stang.. there is no escaping that. the GTR and 370z could not be further from one another, entirely separate platforms. I assume you know this already, but maybe not.

I have more respect for CFM performance's 10.3 second v6 mustang. Not bad for a boosted v6 that costs under $30k. It's not the engineering marvel that is the GTR, but it sure is fast.

let's run evolution's 9.9 seond gt500 against AMS's 9.9 second grt in back, to back, to back, to back, to back runs and see which one breaks first? I'm not sure how much money they spent to hit 9.9, but I'll bet you kids allowance that it was more than evolution spent.

The GTR will have a thermal meltdown on the 4th pass.
This thread should be titled reliable horsepower wars or better yet, pump gas horsepower wars, because no one is cruising around on race fuel. I can't wait to see what a bigger blower does with pump gas on the 2013 gt500.

2013 GT500 is major *** kickage. Basic bolt-on's and you're in the 9's.. most every mustang on this forum has basic bolt-on's. The GT500 can provide the 9's for under $60k with a brand new car.
Don't underestimate the GTR's potential (mainly as a street racing car). They can be insanely fast with enough money into them, however you don't drive the car. You put your foot on the gas and flap some paddles. It's the one car that turns fast boring. New GT500 > Used GTR.
GT500 requires a set of *****. I want one soooo baaaaad. A real man's car.

I like both the GT-500 and GTR. That being said, I find it an oxymoron that Nissan has included a launch control system in its car but will void your warranty if you break something while using it... Why offer it in the first place?
The one I find ridiculous is the Toyota LFA, THAT is a waste of money. Cool gizmos but not worth nearly four times the price of a GTR or six times the price of a GT500

I think we're off the main topic just a tidbit...
Just because the GT500 has more hp than those 2 seater coupes you listed doesn't mean it's necessarily faster.
Have you considered curb weight or even gearing ratios? hp/ton numbers?
