Combo of babying it and driving it like I stole it. I bought mine in January with cold temps and salt on the road. Couldn't do much without excessive wheel hop.

A combination. Never really hard until it got past 500 miles. But I'm a thing of the past myself. LOL

For the 2008 Bullitt and the 2012 GT drove them like I stole for the test drive and after the test drive I, well let’s just say I go through tires pretty quick. I don't believe in babying mustangs. I had over 120k miles on the Bullitt when I traded her in for the 2012 GT. The Bullitt still ran and looked new when I traded her. Got top $ for her too. I had the 2012 at the track before she had 500 miles on her. 11k miles later she is still running strong. The Bullitt was a DD and the 2012 is my DD.

I generally avoid WOT and redline until the first oil change at 500 miles.
It's been very hard to do that with the GT.

On the test drive I did a full 4000 rpm clutch dump and ran thru all the gears....I was on highway entrance ramp that had an incline which made the car wheel hop, needless to say i wasn't happy. I did another clutch dump on on flat ground and there was no wheel hop....so I was happy and bought the car. I drove the car home later that night and gave it a good beating, then i took it easy until i hit 500 miles. I noticed the car ate a full quart of oil the first week and ever since then it has never been low at oil....even after 5000 miles. About a month after i bought it i was a regular at the 1/4 mile track and when the car was brand new with under a 1000 miles it ran consistent 13.70s and now after 40,000 miles it did a 13.59 and the car is bone stock....not bad for no mods. Overall, I had this car for over 4 years and i beat on it occasionally and never had a problem with it. I changed the front brakes twice and probably 3 sets of rear tires and one set of front tires. That's a testament to Fords good engineering....the car is rock solid and still shines as if it's brand new!! I plan on getting the new body style in 2015/14.....let's hope it has the same endurance and it's not a GLOBAL POS!

I'm a pretty spirited driver. So I drive it like I stole it a lot of the times. Traction control off, ready to have fun! Haven't been caught yet and I did a peel out for the first time the other day. And someone mentioned the oil thing above, yeah I haven't gotten one yet since i had the car (purchased in april) and the oil looks GREAT and it's still full o_0 my previous car drank oil and I had to check it every weekend. I LOVE Fords engineering (:

For the 1st 1K miles I varied the rpms as much as possible to properly break in the drivetrain components. Also did some aggressive driving up to 5K rpms(always with the engine at normal operating temperature) to seat the piston rings.

These days I just drive them like I plan on driving them in general. No special treatment. I have yet to regret that among many cars. With the Mustang, I get on it pretty often (it has 350 miles), but much of the time I'm just cruising around too. So its a mix.
