Default my trunk is making weird noises

This randomly started to happen and need to know how to fix it. When I use my key it's fine but when I use the button to do it it makes an intense buzzing noise, like it's not clearing the release enough and is just bouncing off of it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You've got stripped gears in the trunk lock motor.

Only choice is to go to Ford and order a new one. They're about 70 bucks. Really easy to install. Pop the trim panel on the deck lid and its self explanatory.

Same thing happened on my 2007 v6.

Actuator. You will get that same funky noise with any of the blend door actuators and such inside the main cabin area when they start to go.

Need to replace the lid latch I believe, the actuator is not sold as a separate part. Latch is part #4 in above diagram.

That, or stop trying to keep your mother in law back there..

It could simply be a mis-aligned trunk lid and lock. My wife's old Focus had that same problem. They replaced everything and a week later it started up again. I asked them to have the body shop check the alignment for the lock mechanism, and all it turned out to be was a simple alignment took care of it.

Was under warranty so it didn't cost me anything, and it was a year after we took delivery so no idea why it wouldn't have done it earlier or how it was knocked out of alignment.

You obviously made a poor headshot. Pump another round into your mother-in-law and that should take care of it.
