Help?! Mustang Battery
Hey
I was wondering if you guys would know if Ford will replace my Motorcraft battery. I bought my Shelby Gt in October 2009 and it had a Motorcraft battery in it already. The battery exp. sticker is dated till 11/13 and I know you need a battery receipt to get the replacement, but i bought the car with the battery from Ford in Orlando so I didn't get one.
I also live in Plantation so I would be going to Sawgrass ford or Plantation Ford instead.
Would this be a problem??

If the battery tests bad, they will either replace it or sell you a prorated one based on the warranty of the vehicle and the battery warranty. Nobody gets a battery receipt when you buy a car off the lot
Personally, I think the Motorcraft batteries are such POS's that I would go buy a good aftermarket.

What's with battieries dying lately? I have seen so many posts where dead batteries were the issue. Yesterday I had to take my neighbor to O'Reillys to get him a new battery and there were 4 people in line buying a frigging battery.

Dead/dying batteries AND alternators are a chronic issue with the S197's. It's not a rash of problems but an ongoing problem. It's been that way since I joined over 5 years ago. The OE batteries are crap... The OE alternators are marginal... The S197 has some parasitic power draw issues...

It's a little over one year since I bought an Interstate battery. My hydrometer says one cell is bad, but the shop's tester says the battery is good, and refuses to replace it. My Ford dealer tested the battery and it only charges to 75% of capacity.

High summer heat is hard on batteries, like the harsh cold. Not uncommon for weak batteries to fail in hot summer months.
As far as receipt, you had the work done at a dealer, so the details should be available to other dealers for what was done to your car, including the replacement.
