Cervini's painted parts?
Has anyone bought any Cervini's parts that were pre-painted like AM sells?
I have the AM ones on my GT but there were a couple of minor paint runs on there. Better than I could do, but I don't want to put parts with paint runs and drips on the Shelby. I want them to be immaculate. |
I got the Cervinis C Series hood for my 05 pre-painted from Cervinis in Mineral gray and the paint job is awesome. This is just a iphone pic so it wont do it justice, but i'm very happy with it.

I got the unpainted scoops and they fit terribly. I read the reviews but went with it anyway. Spent a weekend shaving it down.. I think its hit or miss with cervini.

http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...33/photo-2.jpg 08CaliGT - I had Cervinis louvers on my 06 GT and didnt have any fitment issues at all. Is there any possibility where you recall seeing the reviews on them? Thanks! |
Bought all of mine unpainted

Lot of people on the AM site had sad they had issues.

I'd rather buy unpainted - everyone's paint is different and has been exposed to different things. at least if you do it locally you have some recourse if it's not matched well.
the picture example above is an exception, looks decent from what I can tell |
Remember, Im asking about the paint quality if Cervini's paints it...not the quality of the louver as I've used both the unpainted C's and the prepainted AM's.
I bought the unpainted C's for my 06 and I had a lot of the same problems others reported. I spent a couple hours trying to get the oily substance off of the urethane before I painted them. They came out to be a pretty good match, but there were a couple small inexplicable paint bubbles. The car got side swiped so while that minor damage was being repaired, I had them pull the louvers, reprep and respray them at the body shop. The bubbles did come back even with the pros. That's why I am curious if I have Cervini's paint them what the quality is like. I have had 2 good reports of the paint quality itself. As far as the fit and the grills, the Cervini's did fit better than the AM ones but that's an 06 vs a 10. I had a tiny gap with the C's while the AM is a rather large noticeable gap. The grill in the Cervini gets cut and bent while the AM is just bending. I liked the quality of the grill on the C better than the AM grill. The C grill had a brushed aluminum finish and looked like it was metal with shapes punched from it while the AM grill was painted black and looked like a heavy screen you'd see on a porch door. As far as fit and build quality, the Cervini may not be the best in the world, but it is better than the AM part. The Cervinis felt solid, had at least accounted somewhat for the mounting tape in the design, and has a template that while being a PITA does make the grill fit much better. The downside is that it does require extensive prep and the oil on the part can complicate paint prep and adhesion. The AM shows up ready for install, but the tape shipped is poor quality, the part feels cheap, shows no accounting in the design for the gapping for the tape to the body line, has a very poor design for the mounting of the grill, and the paint job while a very good match, has runs in it that should not be happening even at that price point. |

I had customers and also local members that have gotten painted stuff from them.
They're all happy. I have seen their painted parts (mostly hoods) and I didn't see anything wrong with them. Looks good. |
