Default Air Intake/Tuner on CL???

I am looking get my first bolt-on got my new-to-me 05' GT. I decided I want to get intake and a tuner which runs like $600 plus at AM but this dude on CL has this for $300. Its a BBK intake and a predator tuner which he assures me has been unlocked.

Is this a good deal or should I keep looking? Maybe fork over the extra money for the airraid/sct tuner at AM? Does the two even compare in added power? One of my concerns is that I heard the predator doesnt turn off TC. I could be wrong.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Don't know much about the predator, but even if it is unlocked, you are not going to have a tune that is optimized for your engine PCM. I would consider that even if you opt for this deal you will still have to drop another $150 just for tunes... That would mean you are saving about $150... If it isused, you might need a new filter, so tack on another $50... So about $100 in savings... Not bar. I would consider it, but what if there is something missing? Does the seller indicate it is complete?

Don't gamble with a product/seller that you can't count on if something goes wrong...go with AM...peace of mind great customer service and lifetime tunes.

The Diablo's are tough to find folks that write tunes that support them; good custom tunes, anyway. The canned tunes on the Diablo are lame to begin with and are roughly 5-10 RWHP shy of a good custom tune. Bite the bullet and get the AM combo with the free tunes for life.

Try to get the CAI w/o the tuner, then get a tuner with a tune for your car.

You can get good deals on CL, but that price doesnt help you as far as the tune, as mentioned.

This always happens to me when I look at CL...you see a great deal...infact, a steal!!! And your impulses say "buy"...just because it's a great deal, and you'll probably never see one like it again for a very long time...but ultimately, it was never your first choice...always better to wait it out and get your #1 choice.

So now I'm rethinking things lol. All I want to do is add coldair/tuner and axel back exhaust for awhile. 5 years down the road I'll get more serious.

The dude said he'll help install to make sure everything works. He also said he had the same set up on his gt, auto and all and could scratch 3rd at the track.

Should I do it and save all that money or still wait on the combo deal at am?

Thanks guys!

I'll say it again: the only way the tunes on that Diablo will work on your car is if they're the canned Diablo tunes, in which case don't bother. You'll see about 5-10 less RWHP compared to the better custom tunes. Plus, you'll still be paying for new tunes once you do other mods (which require new tunes). Quit farting around (and I say that as a forum friend) and go with AM.

ok, ok, i get it. Spend the money. What are canned tunes btw? How do I know if it has them or if I can load it to my car? Sorry, Im new to the aftermarket, bolt-on world.

Ive owned two GTs for a total 8 plus years and never once did anything to them. Not even exhaust lol.
